Perspective

Did you know that as an elementary school kid I was always smiling so I got nicknamed "Smiley"? I also got red alot because I embarrased easily. When I accepted my first real job courtesy of my dad, I was a real introvert in a extrovert's world. I worked in a payroll office as a clerk. I had the same issues except everyone was older than me and I was thought of as not knowing anything and a clown. One thing I did know was I wasn't always going to work as a clerk and if I continued going to school at night, I would get my degree and leave these trolls behind. I did and my degree positioned me to accept a sales position which I was successful at. One thing led to another and I accepted another sales job where knowing a lot about current events and political positions were to my benefit and my success. Ah ha! Being informed and opinionated were part and parcel to my job working for NFIB. How nice it was to deal with people on my terms where I could control and out gun them if I needed to! How nice in my mind's eye. Here I was walking in on their turf and I was actually the one mostly in control. Today I still walk around with Simon and Garfunkel's "I Am a Rock" still in my brain from a youth. Maybe this might explain why I am sometimes misunderstood.
